“When he whom I love travels with me or sits a long while holding me by the hand,When the subtle air, the impalpable, the sense that words and reason hold not, surround us and pervade us,
Then I am charged with untold and untellable wisdom, I am silent, I require nothing further,
I cannot answer the question of appearances or that of identity beyond the grave,
But I walk or sit indifferent, I am satisfied,
He ahold of my hand has completely satisfied me“
It’s an excerpt from “Of the Terrible Doubt of Appearances” by Walt Whitman. Darsey writes, ” It’s Walt Whitman at his most perfect; some things in life cannot be explained, but the understanding that there is love in the world is enough to keep him moving forward. He may not have all the answers to all the questions, but he has the one he loves. And, now, with Mac, I do too.” I don’t think anything I could add could ever say more than this does. Simply beautiful.
It’s when two people need nothing more than to be together. There is a peace around them, a beautiful air that you are blessed to be in. That is Darsey & Mac. Mac is a historian & preservationist so The Cabildo in New Orleans with it’s rich history was a perfect setting for their wedding. With family & friends who traveled from Germany to California, New York and from Baton Rouge they were truly surrounded by joy and love the whole day. It was simply a stunning event.
Fun fact, when planning the wedding date, they took a risk as huge LSU fans knowing that if LSU made the play-offs, they could very well be having their wedding during a football game neither would want to miss. And it just so happened that LSU ended up doing amazing and sure enough, GAME DAY the same day as the wedding. But these two were not going to get down about it, with a projector running in the court yard and at the reception streaming the game, everyone got to cheer as LSU won again.
Darsey & Mac,
I didn’t know that when I met you the day of your wedding it would feel like I had simple know you for years. I was so welcomed by you both and your families that it made the day even more beautiful. I pray you are always blessed and that the poetry of life, the wind in the leaves, swinging on the porch, walking hand in hand, always keep you smiling and thankful. I pray God walks before you and you always have favor and are blessed beyond measure. And I pray in 50 years Walt’s words are even more cemented in your heart as they were on this day.
Much love to you both!!!
