It started with this new blog, a new website, a rebranding, a VERY deep breath, a trip to Imaging in New Orleans with my awesome friend and fellow photographer Davenna, and a HUGE leap of FAITH. In January 2012, I moved my business from “I shoot everything” to my main focus being weddings and my wedding clients. I spent 2 years thinking about it, 1 year saying I was going to do it, yet I never did. Then last year, 2011, something happened that changed it all.  On my old wedding blog (that never ever got comments) in August, on the 2nd to be exact, some one left a comment. Some one by the name of Mary Marantz. My response to this was, “Cool, some one commented.”  I left it at that and moved on. That was until she commented again, and again over the next few months. I finally realized after the fifth comment that she had a link with her name and so I clicked. It was like “Welcome to Wonderland Alice”  when I followed the link to her blog, her world, and her life. I was shocked. Justin & Mary are amazing wedding photographers, and their work blew me away. It inspired me and it mattered to me, more than she will ever know or understand, that she took the time to find those in the industry like me, just really getting into weddings and give us a boost, a vote of “you can do this, keep at it.” So I took that leap, I jumped right off the edge, eyes squeezed shut, fingers in my ears, holding my breath, and free falling. Turns out that some pretty amazing people had a lot of faith in me. They found me, trusted me, booked me, and many became great friends of mine. This year come to a close with me standing here, eyes wide, staring in wonder at the blessings God bestowed upon me and the ones that have already started coming in for 2013. I am in awe, and maybe in shock. I am still free falling, I haven’t fully worked out all the kinks, I am still learning and growing, winning and losing, but with every knock down, I get back up, and get back to it. There are somethings I want to change for this year, some growth I am really pushing to see with in myself, and my business, some good things, that I hope turn to great things, and I hope that my clients and friends are right there with me, waiting to see where this wild ride takes us this year.
