Seven years ago on May 5th we were blessed with our youngest child, Joel. Little did we know he would be the complete opposite of his laid back quiet big brother. In the first 2 years he managed to get stuck in the commode, a hamper, on top of the icebox, crawled in the dryer and refused to get out, had me and his dad feeling like we were going to go crazy….constantly. He never stopped and to this day, he still climbs, we still hold our breath, and he has more charisma and personality than most grown people I know.
Some one asked me once how I had managed to raise two sons who loved each other so much, hardly ever fight, and are so different but accepting of each other. My answer is simple, when Quinton was little he caught a butterfly and Joe fused at him for damaging it’s wings, and explained to him how the wings of a butterfly are covered with tiny feathers and that even the tiniest touch, the most gentle touch, would damage it forever. As I stood watching and listening to them, Joe kneeling with the butterfly in his palm, Quinton listening so intently to ever word, I realized, in that moment, every child is exactly that. A butterfly, sitting in the palm of their parents hand and no matter how much we might want to close our hands around them to hang on to them, we have to remember that each and ever touch will leave a forever lasting impression upon their lives. So each day, I remember that, and each day, no matter how hard it was, I let them grow. I let them make choices and I just gentle guide them along the way. They make me proud, make me mad, sometimes they make me feel crazy, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
So a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sweet crazy funny boy. I love you bunches.

I am a Wedding & Lifestyle photographer, Spider hater, hot tea drinker, sarcasm loving, mom of two boys, and center of my sexy hubby’s world. I truly believe there is no better job than to capture the memories of the most special times in a client’s life. I believe in passion, in love, in forever lasting romance, in hope, in joy, and in laughing until you almost pee yourself, because laughter heals the heart. I believe the glass is half full…and even if it really is half empty, I’d rather not know. I choose a smile over a frown, tears of joy over tears of sorrow, and I believe that brokenness makes your stronger, not weaker, so take the negative life may throw your way, and turn it into the stepping block you need to climb higher in life, always keep yourself at the higher level instead of lowering yourself down to the level of others.
