The question is an honest one, how far is too far in advance to book?
The answer is not a clear cut easy choice and so while I may not be able to give you a straight yes or no to make your choice an easier one, I can give you the information that will help you choose what is right for you.
PRIORITIES
What is the most important thing you want on your wedding day? For some it is the dress, the flowers, or the shoes. Everything else is not as important. For others it is the date, the venue, the band, the caterer, or the photographer. If your priority is one of the last ones listed, you should at least contact them for pricing as soon as possible. Venues, bands, caterers, and photographers all have a policy about how far in advance they book. For my company it is 2 years, but some venues book as far as 4 years in advance. So depending on what is the most important part of your wedding planning to you, you may need to start booking or planning to book now.
PRICING
If you have a budget set, always remember the earlier you book most things, the cheaper you get them. I know more about photography than anything so that’s what I will use as an example. For example, a bride that books her 2015 wedding coverage with me now, will get that coverage for 800 to 1,000 less than some one who waits and books in 2015. On the super plus side, a bride who books in advanced still gets the same great coverage, plus the benefit of any newer gear or classes the photographer may purchase or take between now and then.
Hope this helps in the decision making process and helps you make your wedding day perfect!!!
